Exis Technologies to launch a new range of e-learning courses for IMDG Code 37-14
IMDG Code training has been mandatory since January 2010 for all shore side staff involved in dangerous goods transport by sea, including shipping line booking staff, container packers, consolidators, shippers, forwarders and stevedores. Exis Technologies developed IMDG Code e-learning in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization to meet the training requirement. The online IMDG Code training courses have been implemented by 11 of the top 20 container lines, and have trained thousands of staff worldwide in the sea transport chain.
Exis is now launching an updated range of training courses to provide more focussed and streamlined course offerings. There is also a new multimodal awareness course focussing on the requirements in the IMDG Code, ADR, RID and IATA regulations.
The new courses, which will be phased in during December 2014 and January 2015, will have increased emphasis on graphics and interaction to convey key messages, enhancing the learning experience for students and reducing overall study time.
The new courses are:
Dangerous Goods General Awareness This course is for staff that need a familiarisation with dangerous goods transport regulations and an awareness of the duties that arise from them. It provides awareness training for the IMDG Code, ADR Regulations, RID Regulations and the IATA Regulations.
IMDG Code function-specific training:
IMDG Code – Standard
Training for general shipping personnel such as booking office staff, administrators, customer support and office personnel who require more detailed knowledge on the IMDG Code regulations and dangerous goods shipping requirements.
IMDG Code – Consignor / Freight Forwarder
Training for personnel with a day-to-day role with the consignment of dangerous goods by sea including those with management, supervisory and/or safety/compliance role for a company involved in dangerous goods consignment operations e.g. shipper or freight forwarder
IMDG Code – Packer / Cargo Handler
Training aimed at those who pack dangerous goods and/or are involved in loading/unloading cargo transport units
IMDG Code – Ship Loader
Training aimed at personnel responsible for and/or directly involved in ship loading/unloading operations
IMDG Code – Ship Operator
Training for personnel responsible for and/or involved with managing the operation of a vessel carrying dangerous goods
IMDG Code – Advanced
This course is aimed at personnel who require detailed training on all the main aspects of the IMDG Code provisions e.g. senior dangerous goods managers, Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers
IMDG Code – Refresher
This course provides an update on the latest Amendment for personnel who have already been trained online, or in the classroom, and have previous knowledge of the IMDG Code provisions.
The courses are available for the web or as SCORM content for learning management systems. The web based courses provide additional administrator functions which allow a supervisor to set up courses locally, regionally or globally, set study targets, monitor student progress and maintain records.
